6kV surge arrester
Product Overview
The polymer‑encapsulated metal‑oxide surge arrester (PMOA) is a high‑tech product that emerged internationally in the 1990s. By integrating the superior characteristics of metal‑oxide surge arresters with those of composite insulating materials, it has become a next‑generation replacement for conventional porcelain‑cased surge arresters. Surge arresters are primarily used in power generation, transmission, transformation, and distribution systems to limit various overvoltages that may occur, thereby ensuring the safe operation of electrical equipment.
Owing to its outstanding characteristics—such as low residual voltage, large current-carrying capacity, fast response time, and a flat steep-wave front—it can not only effectively limit the hazards posed by lightning overvoltages and switching overvoltages (e.g., those caused by disconnecting high-voltage motors, opening no-load transformers, or switching capacitor banks) to electrical equipment, but also mitigate damage to solid-state devices resulting from abnormally rapid overvoltages.
This product is assembled by stacking high-performance zinc oxide nonlinear resistor discs to form a monolithic unit, with the resistor discs molded into a core using a specialized manufacturing process. The core is then encapsulated in a single-step molding operation using composite insulating materials, eliminating the need for traditional porcelain sleeves. The external insulation exhibits excellent wet-flashover voltage and high dielectric strength, strong pollution resistance, superior explosion-proof performance, and outstanding sealing properties.
Working conditions
● Suitable for indoor or outdoor use;
● Ambient temperature: -40°C to +40°C
● Areas with an earthquake intensity of 7 or less;
● The operating voltage shall not exceed the product’s specified continuous operating voltage;
● Altitude not exceeding 2,500 m;
● The rated frequency of the AC system is 48–62 Hz; wind speed shall not exceed 35 m/s.
● Products under abnormal operating conditions shall be provided in accordance with the agreement between the supplier and the purchaser.
