Prefabricated Box-Type Substation (American Style)
Product Overview
The ZGS series prefabricated pad-mounted substation (commonly known as the “American-style” pad-mounted substation) features a “pin”-shaped configuration, in which the transformer and the high- and low-voltage switchgear are tightly integrated. Notably, the transformer is exposed on three sides to the ambient air, ensuring excellent heat dissipation, while its enclosure can be separated from the high- and low-voltage switchgear housings for convenient maintenance.
The transformer is an 813-series oil-immersed type, featuring a plate-type oil tank, no conservator tank, and a fully sealed design. The high- and low-voltage bushings, tap changer, oil-level indicator, pressure relief valve, drain valve, and other components are all mounted on the end plates of the high-voltage compartment, with a well-considered layout that facilitates observation and operation. A steel partition separates the high-voltage and low-voltage compartments, ensuring that the transformers in each compartment operate relatively independently while still maintaining the integrity of the entire packaged substation. This results in a compact structure, small footprint, and light weight. Distribution switchgear is installed on both the high- and low-voltage sides.
Terms of Use
● Cooling method: air self-cooling;
● Altitude: ≤ 1000 m;
● Ambient temperature: Outdoor ambient temperature shall not exceed 40°C or fall below -45°C; the monthly average temperature shall not exceed 30°C, and the annual average temperature shall not exceed 20°C.
● Relative humidity: At 25°C, the relative humidity of the air shall not exceed 95%, and the monthly average shall not exceed 90%.
● Seismic resistance level: horizontal acceleration shall not exceed 0.3 m/s², and vertical acceleration shall not exceed 0.15 m/s²;
● Ambient conditions: The installation environment shall be free from significant contamination, explosive or corrosive gases, and dust.
● Installation location: The equipment shall be installed in an environment free from severe vibration and impact, and must be mounted on a cement platform or other flat, solid surface.
● If the requirements for normal operating conditions cannot be met, users are requested to consult with our company to resolve the issue.

Technical Requirements:
● Refer to the assembled actual dimensions for sizing;
● The concrete foundation shall have a smooth, level surface, and the packaged substation shall be secured to the foundation using pressure plates.
● The configuration of the grounding busbar and cable fixing brackets may be determined based on actual conditions;
● Cable supports and grounding busbars shall be pre-embedded;
● The location of the cable entry/exit holes shall be determined on a case-by-case basis;
● After the combination is installed, there must be a clear space of at least 1.5 meters in front of the switch to facilitate operation;
● The grounding grid may be constructed using 12-gauge galvanized round steel or 40×4 galvanized flat copper, and the grounding resistance shall comply with the requirements of the power authority.
